Manzar Bhopali's Poetry

Manzar Bhopali is known across the Urdu world for his unique style of rendition [tarannum] and the simplicity of his poetry.

He has established himself as a poet of repute, who is equally at ease among masses, as among the elite and connoissuers of poetry. Manzar has several poetry collections to his name. Here is one of his famous ghazals:

बेअमल को दुन्या में राहतें नहीं मिलतीं
दोस्तों दुआओं से जन्नतें नहीं मिलतीं

इस नए ज़माने के आदमी अधूरे हैं
सूरतें तो मिलती हैं, सीरतें नहीं मिलतीं

अपने बल पे लड़ती है अपनी जंग हर पीढ़ी
नाम से बुजुर्गों के अज्मतें नहीं मिलतीं

जो परिंदे आंधी का सामना नहीं करते
उनको आसमानों की रफतें नहीं मिलतीं

इस चमन में गुल बूटे खून से नहाते हैं
सब को ही गुलाबों की किस्मतें नहीं मिलतीं

शोहरतों पे इतरा कर खुद को जो खुदा समझे
मंज़र ऐसे लोगों की तुर्बतें नहीं मिलतीं

dosto duaaoN se jannateN nahiiN miltiiN

is naye zamaane ke aadmii adhuure haiN
suurateN to miltii haiN, siirateN nahiiN miltiiN

apne bal pe laRtii hai apnii jang har piiRhii
naam se buzurgoN ke azmateN nahiiN miltiiN

jo parinde aandhii kaa saamnaa nahiiN karte
unko aasmaanoN kii rafateN nahiiN miltiiN

is chaman meN gul buuTe khuun se nahaate haiN
sab ko hii gulaaboN kii qismateN nahiiN miltiiN

shohratoN pe itraa kar Khud ko jo Khudaa samjhe
Manzar aise logoN kii turbateN nahiiN miltiiN
